An analytical visibility method for displaying parametrically defined surfaces
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes an analytical method to determine the visible parts of a Cartesian product surface. The bounds of these visible areas are determined in terms of the (u,v)-parameter-plane. This leads to many advantages over approximating algorithms. The new method allows the calculation and display of only the boundaries and contour curves with high precision. It calculates the critical points of a surface (contours, overlapping contours, penetrations) with machine precision, independent of the resolution of the output device and makes the parallel output on vectorand raster-devices possible. The results of this method are invarying under image-transformations.

An area-oriented analytical visibility method for displaying parametrically defined tensor-product surfaces
An analytical method to determine the visible parts of parametrically defined tensor-product surfaces is described. All vistbility calculations are strictly oriented on the (u, u)-parameter plane. This leads to substantial advantages over visibility algorithms based on the approximation of curved surfaces by sets of planar polygons. The new algorithm allows the calculation and the display of bo...
متن کاملAn efficient analytical solution for nonlinear vibrations of a parametrically excited beam
An efficient and accurate analytical solution is provided using the homotopy-Pade technique for the nonlinear vibration of parametrically excited cantilever beams. The model is based on the Euler-Bernoulli assumption and includes third order nonlinear terms arisen from the inertial and curvature nonlinearities. The Galerkin’s method is used to convert the equation of motion to a nonlinear ordin...
متن کاملMethod of trimming PDE surfaces
A method for trimming surfaces generated as solutions to Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) is presented. The work we present here utilises the 2D parameter space on which the trim curves are defined whose projection on the parametrically represented PDE surface is then trimmed out. To do this we define the trim curves to be a set of boundary conditions which enable us to solve a low order e...
متن کاملSampling Visibility in Three-Space
We present a visibility algorithm that is based on sampling the scene for visible surfaces. The subset of lines for which the visibility is pre-calculated is defined by a two-plane parameterization. Each sample represents the portion of geometry that is visible for the lines through that sample’s region. Lumping geometry together in grid cells allows achieving visibility at a coarser level, and...

Many metal forming problems have been solved using the slip line field method but all of them have either been two-dimensional (plane strain or plain stress) or axisymmetric problems. In this paper a procedure has been proposed by which the slip line field solution to three dimensional problems of metal forming becomes possible. For this purpose the extrusion of shaped sections has been taken a...
